November 2013 President's Message
As business owners we have to decide what we stand for. What role we play. What purpose we serve. The organizations that we are affiliated with should reflect and uphold those beliefs.
By being a part of NAWBO you are part of an organization that truly stands for something. An organization that not only says it improves the lives of women business owners, but one that has done just that. October 25th, marked the 25th anniversary of the signing of the HR 5050 Women’s Business Ownership Act of 1988 in the United States. This piece of legislation was championed by NAWBO and signed into law by then President Ronald Regan. There is still so much to do and today NAWBO continues to work in Washington DC to ensure that our collective voices are heard. By supporting us, YOU ARE making a difference.
We have so many things planned for you this month! We start off with two different programs on the morning of November 7. Attend Member Orientation if you haven’t before. This is where you learn how to make the most of your NAWBO-SA membership and get plugged in. On the same day we will hold our first ever Veterans Mean Business meeting. If you know of any women veterans interested in starting their own business, this is a terrific opportunity for them. We encourage our savvy members interested in partnering with veterans to attend as well. Space is limited so be sure and RSVP today!
Don’t forget that our monthly Women Mean Business meeting is moved to November 14 due to the Thanksgiving Holiday at our normal meeting time. This will be another great program when we EMPOWER our members by shedding light on the “Impostor Syndrome” that many highly successful women suffer from.
Together we will connect, empower, and propel each other to greatness. Won’t you join me?
