Melissa "Misi" Woolard, Owner
Born in 1973, in San Antonio, TX, Melissa Matthews-Woolard grew up in Maryland, Germany and Texas. She graduated from Killeen High School near Fort Hood, TX in 1991.
Woolard attended The University of Texas at Austin and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Advertising in 1996. Woolard married her high school sweetheart, Michael Woolard, an Aggie, in 1996. Together they have two children: Hayden Woolard (born in 2002) and Baylee Woolard (born in 2006).
Woolard began her career as a copywriter working in advertising for agencies such as The Richards Group (Internship in Dallas), Temerlin McClain (Dallas) and The Atkins Agency in San Antonio. She worked on accounts such as American Airlines, JC Penney, The Home Depot, Chick-fil-A, H-E-B, the San Antonio Spurs, Methodist Healthcare and many other well-known national and local businesses. She wrote freelance for five years during the birth of her children during which she wrote society for the North San Antonio Times and published articles in The San Antonio Express-News.
In 2008, Woolard went to work as a Marketing/Public Relations Specialist for the San Antonio Independent School District. After three months, she was asked to serve as the Interim Executive Director of Communications for SAISD while new leadership for the department was found. During her time at SAISD, she led the redesign and redirection of SAISD.net the website that serves the district’s 30,000 students and their families as well as the employees of the district. Woolard launched the district’s Twitter and Facebook account. At the time, only one other district in San Antonio was using social media in their communication strategy.
In 2009, Woolard was hired by the Seguin Independent School District as the Public Information Officer. She served for two years, where she redesigned and redirected the district’s website SeguinISD.net. Again, she was instrumental in developing the district’s social media communications launch and strategy.
In 2011, Woolard resigned from Seguin ISD and returned to San Antonio, after the death of her father, to be close to her mother. In 2012, Woolard and her husband, purchased JC Pollock Companies, Inc, a commercial printing company operating in the Seguin area for over thirty years, after the former owner decided to retire. Melissa and Michael Woolard currently own and operate JC Pollock Companies and their affiliate organizations, Print Express and Pollock Business Forms with 10 employees. These companies provide printing, bindery, and graphic design services to clients regionally, nationally and internationally.
Woolard has always been committed to volunteering her time to support organizations committed to doing what is in the best interest of children. In 1999, she joined the Junior League of Dallas and later transferred her membership to the Junior League of San Antonio. She has served on the Executive Board of the PTA in various roles since 2006 and plans to serve as President of Hidden Forest Elementary PTA for the 2014-15 school year. She currently serves as a board member for Voices of San Antonio. Woolard is also a member of the NAWBO Million Dollar Round Table and serves on the board in the Learning Chair capacity for Entrepreneurs Organization – San Antonio.
