Linda Theis, Owner
Born and raised in Sweden, Linda moved to the United States in 2002, after completing graduate school, and settled in San Antonio. Prior to establishing her own business, she spent several years in the US space industry, working as an engineer, and later, research engineer at Southwest Research Institute in the Space Science and Engineering divison. She gained extensive experience in electrical design and verification testing of space qualified hardware, e.g. spectrometers, data processing units, and avionics systems, spanning many programs like NASA’s GLAST and IBEX missions as well as ESA’s Aspera-3 and Mars Express missions. Her proudest achievement from that time was serving as the lead engineer for the Digital Board on the Combined Electronics Unit, the computer for the science instruments, on the IBEX mission, which is now collecting valuable data in the outer boundaries of our solar system.
After her husband received a job promotion in 2007, which required a move to St Louis, Linda left Southwest Research Institute. In January 2008, she launched her technical translation business, TekDok, LLC. She translates, edits, and proofreads technical documentation and localizes software in two language pairs: Swedish to English and English to Swedish. Examples of technical documentation are manuals, specifications, procedures, data sheets, schematics, technical newsletters, and training material. Her main areas of specialization are computer hardware and software, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and the automotive industry.
Linda has a Master’s degree in Space Engineering, a Bachelor’s degree in Space Engineering, and a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Electronics, all from Umeå University in Sweden. She is married and has two children, Benjamin (7) and Samuel (2.5). In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, working out, and hanging out with her boys.
Congratulations Linda! NAWBO-SA Appreciates You!!
