Beat the Odds
It is a new year - a year filled with possibilities for success in any aspect of your life. The New Year marks a rebirth for many with resolutions galore! However, after a little research, I came across some interesting tidbits about New Year’s resolutions. According to some statistics, 50 percent of Americans make New Year’s resolutions. Of those 50 percent, half believe that they will be successful. Yet, in all actuality, 90 percent will fail to keep their resolutions. What is lacking? The New Year’s resolutions are made internally and not made public. What does that mean? If you fail, no one knows but you. There is no accountability. So how do we beat the odds? Research shows that making resolutions publically & receiving outside support is the most successful strategy.
With that being said, when focusing on resolutions revolving around your business, it is comforting knowing that organizations such as NAWBO-SA allow you to discuss your business aspirations with those who share similar high standards. Surrounding yourself with motivated people helps keep you on track. As we all know, life has its ups and downs and failure is inevitable. We learn from our mistakes & move forward. Remember: “If you don’t make mistakes, you’re not working on hard enough problems. And that’s a big mistake” (F. Wikzek).
So this year, let’s work together to beat the odds & make our goals a reality!
“Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, magic, and power in it.” (Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe).
