How do lawmakers impact your business?

Come find out at our October Monthly Meeting, when a representative from NFIB (National Federation of Independent Business) gives us an overview of what the State legislature is doing to regulate and dictate how you run YOUR business.

"As a women-owned business leader, it’s hard to manage all the demands of my small business; especially the parts I’m not well versed nor enjoy.  That’s why I became a member of NFIB.  They’re a watchdog group who advocate and protect the future of small business.  If you’re like me, I’m often too busy running my business to worry about things that can hurt my business. But, just because we’re not aware of mandates; doesn’t mean we aren’t required to comply." (Lisa Fullerton - Public Policy Co-Director

If you would like to discover a great resource to help educate and inform you about your rights and protection;  join us to hear more from the small business lobbyist who is in tuned and ready to fight for you!

Annie Spilman joined the Texas office of the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) in July 2014 and heads up the organization’s public policy and political programs throughout the state.

Spilman has 15 years of legislative experience, both inside and outside the Texas Capitol. She brings valuable experience in government relations, grassroots organizing, fundraising and direct lobbying to the NFIB/Texas team. Previously, she worked at IIAT as the governmental affairs manager, where she ran the IIAT political action committee, IMPACT, and shared responsibility in lobbying the Texas Legislature on issues important to independent agents in Texas. Spilman began her political career in 2000 as a legislative staffer in the Texas House of Representatives and left in 2006 to begin her lobbying career with attorney Steve Bresnen. Throughout the years, she has also found time to work on political campaigns in the state.

She’s a proud Texas woman who has a passion for helping others find a voice and protecting small business in Texas. Spilman is a graduate of Southwest Texas State University.
