    Let's Rodeo NAWBO SA

We're encouraging everyone to wear their best western wear to our February meeting in honor of San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo!

    OUR SPEAKER

    Maria Williams

    Majestic Events by Maria, LLC

Maria's talk will be on "the How's", to starting and sustaining a Black art gallery in San Antonio, to include the significance of cultural representation. Finding and making opportunities. Being a "place maker" as well as being the appointed District 2 commissioner on the arts.

The distinction between ethnicity and inclusion. The politics of art.  These are the barriers and struggles of what I deal with as an art advocate. With all of these barriers we have had greats "wins" such as the murals on San Pedro Creek, the Hyatt Regency downtown San Antonio, and The Unseen Artist Bench Project.

Our two murals are located close to The St. James AME foundation which was found during the excavation of the site. Proving that there was Black life on the creek which had previously been denied.

Maria hopes this gives the audience some insight on her journey for equity and equality in the arts.
